Lodging
We've gotten a great rate at the
Courtyard by Marriott
of $49.00 per night
for our guests. The hotel is easy to access from I-20 and US 1, and
it is conveniently located to the church and the reception site. If
you wish to stay here, be sure to tell the representative that you are
with the Maynard-Riser party in order to get our rate.

If you'd like to do something extra-special and romantic with your
lodging, you might consider staying at one of the
Telfair Inns,
which are located near the reception site in historic, Olde Towne Augusta.

Dining
If you stay at the Courtyard, you are right off of Washington Road,
the mecca of Augusta restaurants. Your choices range from fast-food
like Taco Bell and Arby's to sit-down choices such as Carrabba's,
Olive Garden, Lone Star Steakhouse, Outback Steakhouse, and T.G.I.
Friday's. The Courtyard itself offers an elaborate breakfast bar and
some dinner choices. Some of our favorite Augusta restaurants are the
Sunshine Bakery on Broad Street in downtown Augusta, the French Market
Grille West (try the fried chicken and the peanut butter pie) in the
Winn-Dixie shopping center on Fury's Ferry Road, and Formosa's in
West Town shopping center on Washington Road.

Area Attractions
For a general overview of the Augusta area, visit the
augusta.com
website.
Antiquing:
There are many opportunities to shop for antiques in
Augusta, including several shops downtown on Broad Street and two
large shops featuring multiple vendors on Washington Road (one is
across from Applebee's and the other is in the shopping center between
Applebee's and Warren Baptist Church, where Fury's Ferry Road forks
off of Washington Road). Also downtown, off of the Riverwalk, is the
Riverwalk Antique Depot (505 Reynolds Street), which brags an "entire
city block" of antiques.
Augusta Museum of History:
Located off of the Riverwalk at 560
Reynolds Street, this museum traces the birth and growth of the city
and features an actual locomotive.
Fort Discovery National Science Center:
On the Riverwalk, at One 7th
Street, Fort Discovery has cool interactive exhibits for people of all
ages, but kids especially will really enjoy it.
Gertrude Herbert Institute of Art
Morris Museum of Art
Riverwalk:
This boardwalk along the Savannah River is billed as one
of Augusta's key attractions. In addition to housing several of the
other options on this list, it boasts the Jesse Norman Amphitheater
and the
Georgia Golf Hall of Fame. It is usually quite beautiful; you can
even take a
virtual tour.
Augusta Mall:
Features Dillard's, Macy's, Rich's, J.C. Penney's,
Sears Brand Central, the Disney Store, Ann Taylor, the Limited,
Express, Structure, Eddie Bauer, Bombay Company, and many other shops.
It can be reached by taking I-20 West to Bobby Jones Expressway
North, and then exiting at Wrightsboro Road, turning left off the
ramp. The mall will be on your right.
Golf Courses:
In Augusta,
of all places, we have to have great golf
courses. You might consider the Jones Creek course.
